Knitting Next Steps: Ribbed Hats! Wednesday May 28th 9am-12pm
This 3-hour class is perfect for anyone looking to expand their knitting skills and is a perfect follow up to our intro to knitting class last Fall. You’ll receive a kit with everything you need—a skein of Maine raised & processed alpaca/wool blend, a pattern, circular knitting needles, and instruction! This fun and inclusive space is all about creating and connecting. We will cover long tail cast on, purling, decreasing stitches, and working with a circular needle in the "magic loop" technique!
The yarn for this class was spun by Stacy's Spinning Haven in Milford, Maine. It is a gorgeous chocolatey brown 70% alpaca, 30% merino blend. The perfect balance of super soft, squishy and durable.
Class is limited to 8 students. If the class is sold out, you can email Annie@SouthportGeneralStore.com to be added to the waitlist. Cancellations less than 48 hours in advance are non-refundable. Workshops take place in The Barn. The Southport General Store will be open during class and each student will receive a 10% off coupon for snacks. Email Annie@SouthportGeneralStore.com with any questions. We look forward to creating with you!
Annie Buchholz, one of our managers of The Barn, has a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Knitting was one of Annie's first creative mediums. She has been knitting for over 20 years and even had the chance to take a sculptural knitting course in college where she learned to use knitting as an element in conceptual art pieces. Nowadays, Annie is hooked on triangle shawls. She makes a couple every year for her friends and loves creating her own colorwork patterns.
